Billy's and Shelly's Zero-Shadow-Day

Billy and Shelly were walking to the school,
Shelly saw something and found it really cool.
The flagpole and the walls were standing as they were,
But their shadows were not seen, today, anywhere.
"Where did the shadows vanish?", started thinking Shelly;
"Run, the Sun has started heating my head", shouted Billy.

With sparkling eyes, clapping with joy Shelly thanked Billy,
Today was the day when Sun came over their heads at noon, truly.
Billy, bit surprised, asked, "What made you so happy?
Isn't shadows leaving us a little bit creepy?
Doesn't Sun come overhead every noon?
What is it that's making you smirk like a loon?"

Happy with himself, Shelly started to explain,
"You won't see the shadows leave, tomorrow noon again.
You'll see the Sun shifting slowly to North-South through a year,
While being on its regular East-West path around our blue sphere."

"Ohh! Now I see, how the shadows around us almost disappeared.
It is fun caused by the movement of the Sun, and is not at all weird.
The Sun must pass over our heads only twice a year,
But for that we have to be between the tropics of Capricorn and Cancer."
Billy explained it all in short, like a know-how,
Shelly looked amazed and proud, and just said "Wow!"

"Look, our shadows are back, as Sun moves to the West,
Let's now run to the class and then talk about the rest."
Billy nodded as Shelly spoke, both ran towards their school,
Everyone around found their story of this Zero-Shadow-Day "so cool!"

Remember, shadows don't disappear beneath every object every noon, everywhere,
That's what makes it worth enjoying, for tropical regions twice every year.
If pondered keenly upon, you can reveal the secrets hidden,
Some of the apparent motions of the Sun, some of the famous tilt and our beloved seasons.
